I bought this knob and some other parts to replace a worn out pieces on our front door. The original hardware from 1932 has worked all these years, and I hated the idea of replacing the entire mechanism with a modern lock set. This knob and the matching eschutcheon (along with a new split spindle) did the trick. This brass knob is heavy and feels substantial- just like the old knobs. I'm very pleased with the quality.
