  • The "Small Forest Axe" is a traditional axe similar to the "Wildlife Hatchet" but has a larger 3-1/4" head face made of the highest quality Swedish steel available. It has a 19" long traditional pattern hickory handle which lends the axe more power when swung. It is long enough for powerful chopping, yet still small enough to fit your pack! The axe is excellent for felling smaller diameter limb wood or cutting smaller diameter logs for the fire. This beauty of an axe weighs 2 lb. & includes a grain leather sheath.

       Each axe head is hand-forged from special Swedish steel which is then honed, tempered, & annealed to the perfect hardness by the experienced Gränsfors Bruk Swedish smiths who stamp their initials on the head, creating a one-of-a-kind masterpiece you'll treasure for years to come.

    Great small axe

    The fit and finish from gransfors bruks is amazing, the hang on the handle is perfect and is not coming loose. The edge comes super sharp and ready to chop, the unlucky few small trees in the backyard didn’t stand a chance! Add the exceptional customer service from hardwick and sons and you can’t beat it. If you want an axe you can put in your pack but can do everything and more than a dinky hatchet can, this is the axe for you.

    The axe is now a very prized possession and sharp as a razor blade. In fact, I did shave some arm hair with it. Your service was excellent and I will be returning for future needs.

Great small axe
