A Scandinavian style adze characterized by it's transverse edge. The Gränsfors Bruk hand adze is an impressive beauty made of high quality Swedish steel. The adze, or tväryxa as it is traditionally called, is basically like a larger gouge you can chop with. It has a number of woodworking uses such as hollowing out timber, making troughs, & special notchwork. This adzes features a cutting edge with a 25 mm radius. Suitable for smaller projects and smaller bowls and troughs. The Small Gutter Adze is usually kept for when the user is working close to the material, making the shorter handle preferable. The bottom grip of the hickory handle is roughened which gives a steady grip even when one's hands are wet or sticky. Adze weighs 2 lb. & includes a grain leather sheath. Each axe head is hand-forged from special Swedish steel which is then honed, tempered, & annealed to the perfect hardness by the experienced Gränfors Bruk Swedish smiths who stamp their initials on the head, creating a one-of-a-kind masterpiece you'll treasure for years to come.
