Brass latch
Overall I like the design of the latch but there is some room for improvement. There is a lot of slop/play in the mechanism so the door does not close tightly. The upper round head screw on the latch side can cause interference when the latching lever is moving upwards. I think the latching lever should have rounded corners. I filed the corners on the latch I used. The instructions could have indicated the placement of the ring latch relative to the strike hook.
Non-Lacquered Brass (will patina over time)
