This Japanese Dogyu Ryoguchi Genno Hammer has a unique design with one flat striking face & another slightly curved face. The flat face is used for driving nails & tapping chisels while the slightly curved face is used as a nail set hammer, making sure the nails are flush with the wood without damaging the surrounding area around the nail. The convex curved side of the hammer can also be used when working in joinery pieces. When hammering & tapping joints, the hammered area will be temporary diminished, but will later contract back for a tight joint. A very special and unique Japanese carpenter hammer. Made by Dogyu. -

I am a framer transitioning into more finish work. My first hammer was a roofing hammer. Afterwards I moved onto stone hammer. At the wise age of 40 my elbow says take it easy. I use this hammer for finish work. It has no claw, so I don’t worry about gouging any finish work. The convex and concave head is amazing at setting nails without damaging the material. The weight is all in the head so when it lands it really drives them. The white oak handle is beautiful. It has become increasing difficult to find anyone in the United States that supplies DOGYU tools. I shop here exclusively for that reason. Hardwick and son’s are the reason for the season. Thank you for all you do!!!!
