The replacement guide tip for the Vix-Bit drill bits. This tip is bevelled & will fit the corresponding countersunk holes in hinges & hardware for accurate & precise center-drilling. The guide tip is also hardened, making it very strong & durable. From the Manufacturer:
Sam Vick, a carpenter & building contractor, was looking for an easier way to install hinges, window latches & hardware using screws. He invented a self-centering drill bit that ensured a perfectly centered hole every time. The Vix-Bit became so popular with fellow carpenters that he formed S.E. Vick Tool Company in 1958.

it was functually adequate for the purpose , so well made that the 9 extra pieces will be on indefinite standby for future use . The 7/64 drill bit was increased with a wind of electric tape to be set to increase the drillbit into a 9/64 recess in a 9/64 Hing bit . Your piece fits into a 9/64 hing bit . I needed to add a metal washer to retain it’s spring in place from coming out of place . Lastly from Global Industries I purchased a2piece set metal pegboard strips set 3”x 48”, stacked =96” ht. Each 2x4 = 96 holes for shelf angles / 18 racks x 4 2x4’s for temporary storage and going well. Your product, GOOD .
