Most efficient job of putting a precision cutting edge on a broad range of tools including kitchen, paring, carving, steak, butcher, boning & filleting knives, meat cleavers & scissors. Designed to be used dry, no lubricant is needed. This sharpening stone has a nice wooden handle for control when sharpening. Made of premium fine grit silicon carbide abrasive. Norton Crystolon. Made in USA.To obtain best results, lubricate your stone with genuine Norton Sharpening Stone Oil. Oil acts as an effective lubricant during sharpening to float away metal & abrasive particles that would otherwise clog up the stone. When metal particles clog the stone pores, it's called glazing & can ruin the stone.

I really like this carborundum stone for keeping my kitchen knives sharp. It has a fine texture. It replaces a similar one bought sometime in the 1960’s. I will use it for many years to come!
