Best little saw I own

Have used this type saw since 1969 for a million different cuts, especially in the garden. So I bought a new pair for carpentry as well as precision pruning. Both perform outstanding and for the price they can not be beat.

Lightweight trail saw

I use it for trail maintenance. My old one was dull, and the joint was loose. This one is tight and sharp - thx

Does the job well

Added this to my firewood kit for camping. Been using it for backyard fires lately and it works great. All my woodworking tools are Japanese so this pull-saw fits right in! As far as design, I wish the blade returned into the handle easier. The blade is a tad flimsy so you have to straighten it just right to fold it back into the handle.

I love it

I've been using these saws for 40 plus years now so that says something!

  •  A good all-purpose Japanese pull-saw that can be used for general lumber, dry woods, & for green woods as well. The blade is foldable, making the saw able to fit in your pocket, backpack, or toolbox nicely. The blade depth is 1-3/8" which allows the saw to get into tight or difficult areas. Saw is available in both 14" & 19" overall lengths. Brass riveted blade in a Beechwood handle with a lanyard hole. Blade is not replaceable.   Made in Japan.

    About Japanese Pull Saws

Japanese saws cut on the pull stroke. Their teeth are very precise & are angled towards the handle; this allows you to cut with great efficiency & control, resulting in precise straight cuts. Another benefit with cutting on the pull-stroke is that you are able to follow your cutting line, giving you accurate & smoother cuts. The blades on Japanese saws are generally constructed of a thinner steel which produces a finer kerf (space left by the blade). Another major benefit by cutting on the pull-stroke is that less force & effort is required when sawing, leaving you not as fatigued when working. Western saws (push saws) on the other hand, typically have teeth that cut on the push stroke. By cutting on a push stroke, the wood will splinter & chip away from you (which is desired in certain circumstances). Western saws typically have thicker blades to keep from bending out when pushing through the cut; they also generally create a larger kerf than Japanese saws. Many Japanese Saws also have blades that disassemble from the handle, making storage easy for a small bag or toolbox. Also, one can get replaceable blades for their Japanese saws when needed.
