    About Carbon Steel

High carbon steel is tougher & harder than stainless steels, making it ideal & desirable for applications where durability is required & where frequent regrinding is needed. Carbon steels are more durable & have razor-sharp edges, & is easy to re-sharpen as well when the need arises.

*Important! Care for your carbon steel blades!*

Since carbon steel has superior cutting qualities due to it's hardness & toughness, it's resistance to corrosion caused by moisture is low as a result. Therefore, it is important to try and keep your carbon steel blades away from moist or damp environments as much as possible. It is also a good idea to occasionally wipe the blade with a light oil, such as mineral oil from time to time. It is also a good idea to wipe the blade dry after each use.

GOOD SERVICE, GOOD TOOL

I don't enjoy grooming my dog! I bought these to trim my overgrown Golden Doodle. My thought was to cut off an inch or 2 then comb and shear her with electric shears These old-fashioned sheep shears did a very good job. Very sharp, unlike scissors I could use either hand (greatly helps for hand fatigue), and actually much faster and smoother cutting than scissors. I took a ton of hair off her that I would otherwise have had to wash and comb first. Absolutely worth the money. I am also very pleased with HARDWICK AND SONS. They sent the shears to me promptly, well packaged, and no surprises on the bill. This is entirely subjective but I truly liked buying something from a small town family business that actually cares their customers instead of someone like Amazon. Kind of a non-financial bonus that makes me value these archaic Japanese shears even more Thanks Hardwick!
