A durable & handsome solid brass transom latch & universal strike. This latch has an old time attractive square style, but it will easily fit in with any time period from Victorian, to current modern styles. The latch is spring loaded & is normally installed at the top of transom windows, but it may also be used on loft doors as well. Once installed, the latch is usually operated by a pole; ideally with a transom hook attached to the pole. This latch is heavy-duty, high quality solid brass. New hardware almost never matches the quality of original, but this does, as do other items ordered from here. I love that with Hardwicks I don’t have to call to confirm lacquered vs. unlacquered brass for our preservation projects - it’s spelled out in item descriptions. And if I do need help, I get a real person who knows their products. I love Hardwicks and was thrilled to find out they are here in Idaho.
