    About Carbon Steel

High carbon steel is tougher & harder than stainless steels, making it ideal & desired for applications where durability is required, & where frequent regrinding is needed. Carbon steels are sharper & more durable, & have razor-sharp edges. Carbon steel in general is easy to re-sharpen as well when the need arises.

    * Important! Care for your carbon steel knives *

Since carbon steel has superior cutting qualities due to it's hardness & toughness, it's resistance to corrosion caused by moisture is low as a result. Therefore, it is important to try & keep your carbon steel blades away from moist or damp environments as much as possible. It is also a good idea to occasionally wipe the blade with a light oil, such as mineral oil from time to time. It is also a good idea to wipe the blade dry after each use.

Great Little Knife

This knife is a little gem. It comes sharp and ready to start carving. The arc is perfect to get right into the center of the spoon or bowl and a gentle pull across the grain is all that's needed on soft wood such as poplar or bass. I've seen this knife sold other places for twice as much so at this price I should have bought the companion knife with the larger arc for doing my finishing and smoothing cuts. Hardwick & Sons has a great selection and the shipping is fast and fair. Don't waste your time on Ebay. These guys have everything you need. Earl.... Vernon, NY
