This gouge is made in USA by a quality company Flexcut. It was razor sharpe out of the plastic sleeve. While the steel shank is a little thinner and concave but pretty wide compared to a gouge made from 1/4” stock. The handle fits nicely in my hands and the flat spots around the ash handle makes it easy to get a good grip around. Theses should hold up well for any type of use needed.
