  • A handsome & quality passage spring latch designed for traditional doorknobs with a square spindle shaft. This latch may be used with solid doors, or modern pre-bored doors with the 2-1/8" hole already cut out (with the black adapter piece). The latch will accommodate both the standard & common 3/8" - 20 TPI square shaft spindles found on most old-style doorknobs, & will also work with thicker 5/16" sized spindles as well. The well-made & durable spring loaded mechanism provides a secure & smooth operation when used. The latch is designed for a passage (non locking) function on doors. Combining function along with attractive style, these very useful tube latches will provide a welcoming addition to your doors. Great for vintage antique door knobs, or reproduction door knobs. Available in non-lacquered brass (the un-lacquered brass will patina over time), oil rubbed bronze, brushed nickel, & polished nickel finishes.

    We purchased a classic spring latch for our 80 year old door.

    Had a great experience however the latch didn't quite fit our door. When the plunger was fully retracted little ears protruded from the housing which didn't have enough space. So we returned the latch and promptly got refunded. We got a call from a friendly employee and the whole experience was good if not successful. I would use Hardwick again.
